We had the whole place to ourselves, which made us feel like VIPs. The accommodation was top-notch, with a dope balcony and a personal spa. The game drives were lit, with our guide Neil showing us rhinos, lions, and even a face-off between elephants and lions. The food was fire and we got to chill with the hosts. it was a sick experience and we felt like kings of the safari!
The only thing we could ask for is a lit party spot at the lodge. You know, a place where we could turn up and have some fun with other young peeps.

the traditional thatch roof lodges with modern touches, such as white linen and towels, added an elegant touch. the housekeeping team was exceptional, ensuring our rooms were cleaned almost every time we left them. the food at the lodge was outstanding, with unique and diverse options throughout our four-day stay. Our game ranger, Joseph, was not only exceptionally polite but also incredibly knowledgeable, making sure we had the best safari experience possible. the view from both the restaurant and our rooms was simply incredible.
Nothing, no complaints at all. 😊

The suites at Makweti Safari Lodge are like a dream come true. They are crafted from African stone and thatch, giving them a rustic yet luxurious feel. The winding pathways through the natural bushveld make you feel like you're on a true adventure, connecting you with nature every step of the way. The balcony or patio in each suite offers breathtaking views of the gorge-defined valley and the hills beyond - it's a sight you'll never forget. The panoramic views from both the luxury suites and the dining room are simply astounding, making you feel like you're on top of the world.
Personally, I found the air conditioning in the suites a bit excessive for my taste. However, I understand that others might find it enjoyable, especially in warmer seasons.

the safari ranger, Neil, was a true legend. He had an incredible amount of knowledge about animals and his passion for his job was evident. We had 4 safaris over 2 nights, each lasting 3 hours, and we were able to see almost everything. the experience of having meals with all the guests at one table was truly unique and enjoyable. the staff at the lodge were amazing, and the food was delicious. the lodge itself was luxurious and beautifully decorated in an authentic African style. the highlight, however, were the game drives led by Neil. His expertise and enthusiasm made the drives entertaining and educational. He made every effort to ensure we saw the animals we were looking for.
All was good! 😊.

Our second visit in 3 years to this jaw-dropping lodge was absolutely mind-blowing! The location, staff, and setting were super fantastic. Nestled seamlessly into the surroundings, the lodge had an authentic southern African vibe. With only 5 rooms, the intimate environment allowed us to connect with other guests. The hardworking staff created a welcoming atmosphere, and the varied, delicious food was plentiful. The absence of a perimeter fence made us feel right in the wild, with zebras and a giraffe nearby. The safari experiences were top-notch, thanks to our knowledgeable guide Neil, who prioritized the animals and their space. Learning about the reserve, animals, plants, and birds from him was a highlight. We left feeling incredibly grateful and would return without hesitation. Many thanks to the amazing team at the lodge!

The Indaba Lounge offers fantastic views of the flood plain and waterhole - perfect for taking it all in. The meals are a culinary event, with locally sourced ingredients and a wine list nodding to South Africa's famed vineyards. And let's not forget the traditional vetkoek - a firm favorite!
Oh, what a shame! I had to bring cash for the tolls on the route to the lodge.

Feeling a bit like royalty, we were blown away by the exquisite African decor that adorned the entire property. The staff, oh my goodness, were absolutely amazing - they made us feel like family from the moment we arrived! The property and rooms seamlessly blended with the natural surroundings, giving us a jaw-dropping immersive experience. The intimate setting with a maximum of 10 guests allowed for a truly personalized safari adventure. And let's not forget about the guides! Their knowledge and passion had us in awe throughout the game drives. Plus, it's a breeze to get to and a Malaria free zone. We would book again without hesitation!

As a solo traveler, I loved the intimate atmosphere and personalized service at Makweti. The small number of lodges meant there were very few people, creating a special and exclusive experience. The safaris were absolutely incredible, with our knowledgeable guide Neil ensuring we saw a wide variety of animals and respecting their space. The lodge itself was stunning, with beautiful rooms and shared areas. The absence of a fence around the lodge allowed us to be truly immersed in the wild, with zebras and giraffes nearby. The food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you appreciate nature, enjoy early mornings, and love being spoiled, this trip is perfect for you.
Felt completely safe and had no complaints at all.
